I also took a panorama of the room as only me and the nurses are allowed in.

Today was the WPE's 5th birthday! There was cake, drinks, a magician and an acro team. The WPE took 7 years to build.

Itchy back.......

My back is quite red now and it is very itchy. The Doctor prescribed some cream to put on the radiation area to help the itchyness. He also gave us 5 GCSF injections as my bloods are very low (white blood cells 0.99). That explains why I am so tired!!! I have now done 20 protons!!!

Unexpected guests......

This morning we went to the proton centre like usual but when I walked out of proton I looked over my left shoulder and saw my Nan and Grandad (Mum's Mum and Dad)! WOW!!! We certainly wasn't expecting that!!!

They arrived late last night and they are staying until Monday.

On Friday we took them to Grugapark & went on the little train.

At Grugapark we also went up a really tall tower where we could see the whole hospital from the top!

On Saturday it was my Grandad's birthday. Happy Birthday Grandad!!!
We went to Werden by the River Ruhr. We all went on a pedalo, which was really fun!!! It was an extremely hot day!!!

Monday 21st

Monday is a bank holiday here!!!

Milly and Mum went swimming at the open air pool (50M long) Milly is trying to continue her training schedule, her coach has sent her a program to follow. Mum was having trouble keeping up with her!!

I was in my wheelchair on the side with today's program and was giving the next instruction.

It was very hot that day!

On the way back we called for Pizza, they are so big Milly and me have one between us!

Tuesday - Well back to my protons....

I had my protons in the morning and still feeling very tired we went to Ruttenscheider and had some lunch at a small cafe.
We then went back to the apartment as I was very sleepy.

These protons are really making me tired so they must be having an effect!

Wednesday - More Protons  BUT AT 7:30 in the morning! Far too early for me (I'm tired)
Went back to the apartment after protons and went back to bed!
We had some lunch then took the tram to Steele and had an afternoon ice-cream!

Passing my blood test!

When I had my blood test today my White Blood Cells were on 1.92. So close! ( should be 2.0 )

Dr Tippelt (the children's oncologist) really wanted the chemo to go ahead anyway but he had to discuss it with his team.

Friday 18th May

When we went to the WPE this morning Dr Tipplet told us that the Chemo is going ahead!!!! I had my protons and then we walked up to the KinderKlinic (children Hospital). The nurses set up the chemo for me and showed us to my room. The room was really small! Next to me was an older girl who has Ewing Sarcoma as well. She is from Greece and she is living in Germany for 1 year as the hospitals in Greace aren't very good. Luckily she could speak English! The play room was almost 4 times the size of Manchester's! The best bit was that the ward has a balcony so you can sit in the sunshine whilst having chemo. How good is that!?!

On Saturday morning I woke up at 2am feeling really sick! I couldn't stop being sick until 3am when the nurse prescribed an antisickness. It worked until about 8am when the day nurse came in with my usual antisickness tablet. Started having it and then I was sick twice again! The day nurse told us that one of the antisicknesses had been crossed off the list. She gave it me anyway and about 20minutes later I started to feel so much better!

By Saturday afternoon it was time to go back to the apartment. I went back in my wheelchair as I was feeling very tired and out of breath.

It was quite difficult getting on and of the trams and underground with my wheelchair. But I got back to the apartment and relaxed.

Half way there!

Today is the half way mark! 15/30 protons done. My back is starting to get a little bit red in the radiation area but this was expected. Although it is red I am still in no pain but sometimes it can get a little bit itchy.

I am collecting my radiation
beads and so far this it what
it looks like.

A visit to Kettwig!

Today we went to Kettwig by train. It is a little town with cobbled streets lined with tudor buildings. We had an ice cream and a little wander round the town. It is near the River Ruhr. This little town survived WW2!

1 year ago today!

One year ago today the pain in my back started and the day after it started I took part in a gymnastics competition in alot of pain! Everyone just thought I was over overegsagerating! I miss going to gymnastics! I used to train 6 hours a week and after not training for around 8 months I am struggling to do the things that I used to be able to do. Although I can no longer do very much gymnastics, I am determind to get back up to the standered that I was at 8 months ago. Nothing will stop me!

No chemo again!

On Wednesday 9th May I had a blood test and my white blood cells were on 1.5. On Friday 11th May I had another blood test and my white blood cells have gone up to 1.8. The Doctor said that they are still too low for Chemo as to have chemo they have to be 2.0. So we are going to try again next weekend.

Instead of chemo we then decided to go to Baldeney Beach again. This time we played crazy golf. It had 18 holes and it took us nearly 2 hours to complete them all. We were a bit rubbish at it but in the end Dad won!

Outdoor swimming!

Today we went to Grugabad (bad is bath in German). It is an outdoor picnic/swimming place with 4 pools! One with slides and an obstacle course, a wave machine pool with a slope so you can just walk into it like at a beach, a 50m training pool and a 5m deep diving pool with really high diving platforms! I can't keep away from the water now!

Sunday 6 May 2018

A day at Baldeney Beach!

Today we went to the beach. It is a man made beach next to the River Ruhr. A small part of the river is roped off for swimming and it has 3 pontoons to jump off. When we got there we had a picnic lunch and played in the sand. Then Mum, Milly and I went swimming in the river. It was really fun but very cold!!!

Saturday 5 May 2018

Life in Germany.....

We are having lots of ice creams as it is very hot! We are going to Grugapark most days. So far I have had no side affects from the Proton, I have had 7/30 protons.

Swimming!

Today we decided to be a little bit naughty. As my back isn't sore or itchy we went swimming even though the doctor advised not to.
It was so fun! I wore my drysuit. We played in the pool for 1hr 30mins!!! I was really tired afterwards though! I even managed to do two lengths in the 50m pool!
