Chemo round 7 ...

The Sunday before chemo we all travelled back from Cornwall. On Monday morning we went to the hospital and Dad went to work. Luckily, I passed my blood test so my second to last chemo could start!!!

Nanny and Grandad came to visiit me on Monday night.

I always like it when I get a bed next to the window because I like to be able to see what is going on outside.

I manage to keep eating during my chemo...

From Ward 84 to Pitch 84...

After finishing chemo on Tuesday, we spent Wednesday packing (& shaving my head) & on Thursday we went to our usual holiday destination, Cornwall. I have been to Cornwall every year of my life and Cancer wasn't going to stop me this year!

When we got to the campsite we realised that we had booked Pitch 84.

Ward 84 for chemo on Monday, Pitch 84 for a holiday on Thursday!

Shaving my head for the second time...

Since the Sunday before chemo, my hair started falling out. By Wednesday it was really annoying me (again). So I decided to shave it off (again).

Chemo Round 6...

We arrived early Monday mornng and outpatients was empty!
After passing my blood test it was time to move in for 2 days.

The play staff always find me something to do. This time I did a photo frame.

Dad came to the hospital as a surprise visit on the way back from work.

I soon started to feel quite tired but luckily I wasn't sick this time.

In the morning, Milly came to spend the day at the hospital with me.

We spent the afternoon sorting out all my beads of courage. (I now have over 200 beads!)

By 8pm I was all done!

Ward 84 Party...

Every year Ward 84 have an annual party. It is held at Victoria Baths in Manchester. Dad volunteered to do candyfloss there. There was a main hall with a stage and a DJ. 500 people attended the party this year and many walked away with raffle prizes such as a 50" TV!!! It was a fantastic event and I will definately be going next year!

Strength and resilience award...

I was nominated for an award at the Chorley Schools Sports Partnership Awards evening. This was at Chorley Town Hall.

I was given a special award for Strength and Resilience.

When I went up on stage I got a standing ovation! A lot of people had tears in their eyes.

This is what I got the award for...

This year we have a special award for a year 6 pupil from Anderton CP.
Sally Cornes. Sally became ill in September last year and has spent much of the year undergoing treatment at Manchester children’s hospital and also in Germany. This has not stopped Sally doing what she loves and that’s to dance. Not only did she still perform in the annual panto in Adlington at Christmas but she has continued to attend school as often as she’s been able to and for the second year running be part of our academy. She even made her consultant change her treatment date so she could perform at the school games and attend her y7 induction day at her new high school. Even when Sally has been unable to attend rehearsals she has caught up by asking a friend to teach her what she’s missed and always returns knowing exactly what she should be doing. Sally has fought and won her battle and is now just in the mop up stages of her treatment. She’s an absolute inspiration to everyone who meets her and we are all so proud of her.
We’d like Sally to except a special award for strength and resilience.

Chemo round 5

This morning we went to the hospital had a thumb prick and luckily I passed this time! I only started chemo at 5pm as the pharmacy lost my prescription for the antisickness! During the night I was sick several times but by morning I felt a bit better. Chemo round 5 was all finished at 9pm Tuesday.

Now there are only 3 more left until the end!!!
I can't wait!!!

Very busy week.....

Tuesday  3rd July

Today I danced at the Lancashire School Games at Stanley Park in Blackpool. Here is a video of me dancing.

Wednesday  4th

As I am starting Parklands High School in September, today was my Induction Day. I did a full day there and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to start in September! Before I went I had a big decision to make..... wig or beanie hat? Eventually, I decided to just wear my beanie hat as in September I will have to take my wig off anyway for PE and why pretend to be somebody I'm not?

I was very tired after a full day but no time to stop as I had to go straight to the hospital for a blood test for chemo. After a blood test we went straight home because I have Guides on a Wednesday evening.

Thursday  5th

This morning we had a phone call informing us that I had failed my blood test so no chemo this week, try again on Monday.

Friday  6th

This morning I woke up with a headache and a temperature of 37.4. Luckily it wasn't high enough to be classed as an infection. Throughout the day I felt tired, had a headache and my temperature kept going up and down. At one point it got to 37.6! If it gets to 38 I have to get admitted into hospital! The problem was it was my school play that nignt so I had to let school know if I was well enough to do it or not. In the end I had some paracetamol and did the play. Afterwards I was glad I took part.

Saturday  7th

Today it was Adlington Carnival. As I was still really tired I did it in my wheel chair. I still really enjoyed doing it though. I did it with Guides and the theme for us was "jobs women couldn't do 100 years ago" so I dressed as someone from the army.

Not feeling well!

Since Wednesday 27th I have started to feel very tired. On Friday 29th we decided it would be a good idea to go and have a blood test done to make sure I don't need a blood transfusion. We went to Preston hospital as it is closer than Manchester. We ended up waiting 2 hours just for a blood test! Eventually, we went home to wait for the results.

They soon rang up with the results. I don't need a blood transfusion as my bloods are fine but we had to go back to see the doctor.

We went to my school's summer fair but whilst we were there I started to have a head ache and feel really sick. Mum took me home where I was sick and had some paracetamol for my head ache.

On the way back to the hospital I started to feel a lot better and my head ache had calmed down.

We saw the doctor who said everything is fine I just need to rest!

Today I am feeling miles better just still very tired!

Banned from school!

This week, on Monday and Tuesday, I went into school for most of the day. On Tuesday evening we heard that there was a sickness bug going round. The following morning we decided to ring school to ask if it is safe to come in but as there were a few people off in my class, they advised me to stay at home for the rest of the week. So I kept myself busy...

The Floss.....

When I arrived at the hospital a few of the nurses were waiting for me. They  knew I had been to a dance rehearsal and they asked me if I could do "The Floss." I gave them a lesson and within a few minutes everyone was doing it!

Chemo round 4...

I was due chemo round 4 today but really wanted to see all my school friends and it was Bikeability today. I also had a dance rehearsal for the Lancashire School Games.

We decided to go to the hospital for a blood test, go to school for Bikeability, go to dancing and then go back to the hospital for chemo.

We arrived on Monday night at 7:30pm. I was all wired up by 8pm all finished by 10pm Tuesday. This chemo went a lot better than the one in Germany as I didn't feel sick at all.

Ringing The Bell!!!

YAY!!! 30/30 protons completed.

Today is a very happy & sad day. At the end of Proton the patients get to ring the bell to celebrate the end of PBT in Germany.

I am very happy that I can now go home but sad because I will miss all the fantastic doctors & nurses here in Essen.

This is the Proton Machine

This is Dr. Tippelt who was my oncologist in Essen & the nurse who flushed my line every week.

After saying our goodbyes it was time to celebrate with pizza & ice-cream!!!!!
